Steph “Allie” Heckman          Executive Director          steph.heckman@owcf.org 

Originally from Scotland and a University of Edinburgh, Masters graduate in Philosophy, Psychology, and International Politics, Steph has more than 15 years experience in international non-profit development and management. Most recently, Steph has been leading development efforts with the International Rescue Committee as the Regional Development Manager for Northern California. In the UK, she led the development program for Africa Now, a non-profit which supports grassroots organizations throughout sub-Saharan Africa, and worked on fundraising initiatives for Amnesty International. In 2002, Steph spent most of the year in Rwanda, where she coordinated an education program for high school students in the Lake Kivu region. She has traveled and worked across Latin America and Africa, including  Bolivia, Guatemala, Rwanda, and Uganda and speaks French and basic Spanish. She lives in El Granada, CA with her husband and two young children.

Stephanie Doering         Finance & Administration Manager         stephanie@owcf.org

Stephanie joined One World in March 2008.  She made the transition to the non-profit sector from the business world and brings with her over 10 years of experience in organizing and overseeing the operations of offices in various fields, including banking. Stephanie  is responsible for the day to day office operations of the organization, database management, financial management, HR administration, and other duties related to the running of the organization to ensure One World continues to operate in an efficient and effective manner.

Katie Boswell          International Program Manager (PT)          katie@owcf.org

Originally from England and a University of Cambridge graduate in History, Katie brings an enthusiastic and fresh approach to her new role. Before moving to the Bay Area in 2010, Katie managed the Well London Program, which improved health and well-being in 20 low-income communities. She also served as a Public Policy consultant for 3 years, and has extensive volunteer experience, including evaluating education programs at Seva Mandir in India, teaching English to women in London, and running a camp for Saharawi children. Katie speaks intermediate Spanish, and is currently learning Hindi. She lives in San Francisco and is currently studying for a Masters in Development Management.

Anand Chandrasekaran       Board Chair       anand@owcf.org
Anand joined One World's board in 2009 and brings a background in building entrepreneurial and mission-driven organizations.  He became Board Chair in May 2012.
 
In 2001 he co-founded Aeroprise Inc., which became the most deployed mobility tool for service management worldwide and was acquired by BMC Software (NYSE: BMC). Anand is currently a product leader at Yahoo! and formerly was at Openwave Systems & MyToday SMS.
 
He holds a M.S. in Electrical Engg. from Stanford University, a Bachelors in Engg. from PSG College of Technology (India) and has completed the Global Leadership Program at Harvard University. In 2010, Anand was selected by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader. Anand is also a Venture Advisor at Storm Ventures, a $500M VC firm and has been an advisor / board member to several private companies. He has helped produce an award-winning feature documentary which was shot in Zimbabwe, released in theaters nationwide & premiered on Showtime. Follow Anand on Twitter.
 
Chitra Rajeshwari      Vice Chair    chitra@owcf.org
Chitra joined One World in January 2009. She also co-chairs the Development Committee.
She was the Vice President of Sales and Business Development at Sustainable Industries.She has been passionate about volunteering and has been doing so since she was a teenager.
 
Chitra has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, History and Sociology from Bangalore University, India and has recently completed an Executive program on Sustainability management from the Presidio Graduate School. 
 
Michael Kilgroe        Co-Founder       michael@owcf.org
Michael's travels to India with his wife Patricia inspired him to co- found the One World Children's Fund with Shanti Cliff in the year 2000. Michael and Patricia were deeply moved by the living conditions of the poor in India and that is where they decided to do something to help the poor children from all over the world.  

Michael's particular contribution to One World is in the creation of the Champion Program and he devotes his time working with Champions and supporting their efforts in serving grassroots projects around the world.
 
He was a somatic therapist, a rolfer and a teacher/group leader in transpersonal psychology before he retired in 2004. He loves meditating and has been involved in a scientific study of meditation in a retreat setting with Alan Wallace and scientists from the University of California at Davis.
 
 
Patricia 'Savitri' Burbank        Co-Founder        savitri@owcf.org
Patricia 'Savitri' Burbank is one of the co-founders of the One World Children's Fund and is a therapist by profession. She holds a Master's degree in Education from Stanford University as well as  Master's in Counseling Psychology from the University of Santa Clara.

She devotes her time at One World to fundraising, building donor relations and loves to connect people with grassroots efforts that are serving the children in need. She is passionate about education, particularly for girls, and programs that address the needs of American teenagers in juvenile detention centers.

Janet joined the One World Board in September 2006. Janet chairs One World’s Project Committee, which oversees the application process.
 
She has had a life-long interest in the United States and its relationship with the world at large. It was during the tragic event of the Berlin Wall going up, she was exposed to the universality of Mankind and from there it has been no looking back for her.
 
After graduating from University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Social Science Field, she set off to India in the Peace Corps. She was a part of the United Nations nutrition program and has worked for the betterment of women in India. She was working with the State Farm, an insurance company in the US before she retired in 2002.

Karim Ajania                       Board Member     karim@owcf.org  
Karim was born and raised in Kenya. He is an educator by profession and has served as a school teacher in inner-city schools in Boston and New York and as a school principal of a Massachusetts state charter middle school of over 200 children. 

Karim is also the founder of The Brick Project which has served over 3,500 middle school children in 16 countries for which he built multicultural school curriculum programs in History, Art, Ecology and Literature.

He developed The Brick Project as part of his doctoral thesis research at Harvard University and refined the project under the guidance of Nobel Peace Prize recipients Betty Williams and Desmond Tutu. Karim holds graduate degrees from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the Media Lab at MIT.

Howard joined the One World Board in January 2012. He is a partner in the San Francisco office of Meckler Bulger Tilson Marick & Pearson LLP. Prior to joining the firm in April of 2011, he was a partner with Long & Levit LLP where he served as the firm’s managing partner from 1983 through 1991 and from 1995 through 2000.
 
Howard maintains an active litigation practice that emphasizes the defense of employers and businesses in employment litigation, commercial and securities litigation, employment counseling, the defense of professionals, including accountants, lawyers, officers and directors, securities and commodities brokers, investment advisers, and insurance brokers, the representation of directors' and officers' liability insurance carriers, insurance coverage, with particular emphasis on professional errors and omissions, employment practices liability insurance, liability insurance and inter-insurance company disputes, reinsurance and other commercial and business disputes.
 
He has acted as both mediator and arbitrator and is a member of the panel of Resolution Remedies, an ADR provider in Northern California, and the National Arbitration Forum. Howard has served as counsel, as a party-appointed arbitrator, and as an umpire in reinsurance and insurance arbitrations, and he has testified extensively as an expert at trial and in depositions on insurance and law practice management issues, and the reasonableness of attorneys' fees in both state and federal courts. He also provides the annual training mandated by the California Fair Claims Settlement Practices Regulations.
 
 
Frank Hathaway                  Board Member            frank@owcf.org
Frank served as the Vice President Supply Chain/ Logistics for major divisions of several Fortune 50 companies, such as Nestle', Unilever, Avery Dennison and ConAgra. During those 15 years, Frank developed and implemented the supply chain strategies and budgets, including acquisition integration, ERP (enterprise resource planning) and other technology implementation, operations streamlining. (including CLASS A) and dramatic customer service improvement programs. 

Frank has a BS, Business from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN, and an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University, East Rutherford, NJ.

Vineet is a social entrepreneur that most recently served as the Co-Founder and CEO of Anjna, a nonprofit health technology company focused on using interactive, tailored mobile technology tools (SMS and voice) to improve health literacy for underserved populations. 

He is also a founding member of Uprising vebture capitalist firm. Previously, he served as the student lead for the 100KCheeks campaign at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

He is a Forbes 30 under 30 social entrepreneur, a Paul and Daisy Soros Fellow, a Staples/Ashoka Global Youth Social Entrepreneur, Donald A. Strauss Scholar, Goldwater Scholar, Haas Public Service Fellow, Irene and Eric Simon Foundation Fellow, DoSomething/AT&T Fellow, and an NIH Training Award Fellow. He has been featured in Forbes, New York Times, the Huffington Post etc. and has spoken at TEDIndia/INK, TEDxTampaBay, Medicine 2.0, Techonomy etc. He graduated with University Distinction from Stanford University with a degree in Biological Sciences, where he served on the Board of Trustees as a student representative
