Volunteer

As a volunteer-led organization, One World counts upon the commitment and passion of our volunteers to support children around the world who lack the most basic necessities.

We do this by empowering people who live in the US to champion local grassroots organizations around the world.  Currently, we collaborate with 25 partners in 14 countries building sustainable solutions to the problems affecting local children and their caregivers.

One World volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds, ages, and skill sets. They are students, families, professionals, faith groups, and larger communities who have come together to make a difference in a child's life. 

As our volunteers continue to support us, we at One World seek to also provide our volunteers with knowledge and support. Our One World Brown Bag Lunches provide continuing, holistic non-profit management education to our Fellowship program. These presentations are also open to anyone in the general public who is interested in learning more about the non-profit world.

CHAMP Volunteers

CHAMP = Change Happens Among Motivated People

Are you motivated to make a difference?  Can you spare some time and are you willing to give something back to society?  If yes, then volunteering as a One World CHAMP can be rewarding, fun and empowering!

All you need is a few hours a week of spare time to work from home!

Every month we have nominations for a  volunteer who has been generous with their time and have done great work for the One World. The chosen CHAMP of the month will be accorded a place amongst One World’s CHAMP Alumni, will be featured on our blog, and receive an interesting goody from us!

One World Champions

Not to be confused with CHAMP volunteers, our Champions are people who have chosen to help a grassroot organization in the world that is addressing the basic and critical needs of children and their caregivers. Residents of the United States who have traveled or lived in the developing world may find such local grassroots groups.

Committee Positions

If you'd like to volunteer but don't have the time to give each week, you may be a candidate to join one of our committees!  Being a committee member is not a huge time commitment, but you would still be helping One World make a difference and expand throughout the Bay Area.

We have several committees where volunteers are needed for leadership positions:

  1. Development Committee - fundraising for our mission
  2. Communications Committee - support with the planning and execution of our website and other marketing and communications strategies
  3. Project Committee - Managing the exisiting management and projects.

Internships

Internships with One World are a great way to gain valuable work experience, learn new skills and give back to the One World community.  As an Intern, you will work on both individual and team projects, sit on a committee, and interact with the Board.  Our internships have a minimum commitment of 3 months, working 3 days a week.  Schedules are flexible and internships can start anytime during the year.
