Orphans are some of the most vulnerable children in the world. Whether orphaned by the HIV/AIDS epidemic, civil conflict, displacement, abandonment, or other reasons, these children need comprehensive support that addresses shelter, safety, food, education, health care, cultural preservation, and emotional well-being.
Luckily there are grassroots groups around the world that do exactly that. Often starting out as informal homes, these One World partners have flourished into safe, welcoming environments for orphans and other vulnerable children in their surrounding communities. The children no longer have to fend for themselves and be at risk for exploitation on the streets. Instead they know they will have clean clothes to wear, nutritious meals to eat, a bed to sleep on, a school to attend, and a bright, dignified future ahead.
