Vocational training involves teaching people useful skills, such as carpentry or weaving, that can be used to generate an income. In today’s global economy, possessing a technological or manufacturing skill leads to greater work opportunities and higher earnings.
Disabled or socially marginalized individuals benefit greatly as vocational training empowers them with a valued skill, a sustainable source of income, and newfound self-worth.
Women also benefit greatly because higher earnings and increased financial independence can translate into higher status for women and better care for their children.
One World partners with organizations that offer vocational training to both young people and their caregivers, often from marginalized groups and in communities that experience high rates of unemployment, thus providing them with a way to support themselves and their families.
